This one day investment and trade conference will run alongside the 3rd Ugandan Convention UK. The conference will be promoting Uganda as a preferred investment destination in Africa. It will offer a premier learning platform to present new perspectives, ‘feel the pulse’ of doing business in Uganda, network, build new partnerships and strengthen existing alliances with the right business partners at the highest level.
The 2nd Ugandan Convention in 2012 was a huge success and we are very keen to build on the momentum and good will that we established amongst the Ugandan Diaspora. We have decided to vary the structure of the convention this year to allow for more interaction between the speakers and the delegates. We are especially keen to ensure that by the end of the day the delegates would have identified investment opportunities and or partners in Uganda.
Substantial evidence shows that Ugandan Diasporas hold substantial financial assets beyond their current income — for instance, in savings and retirement accounts, in property, debt, and equity and these untapped funds can be mobilised into viable business ventures in Uganda espcially the industry sector.
Investing in Uganda: Uganda is no stranger to investment: it has consistently attracted the highest levels of foreign direct investment in the East Africa Community region over the past five years. In 2010 alone, Uganda attracted FDI of up to US$ 848 million because of several reasons; including a predictable investment environment, a fully liberalised economy, good market access, a strong natural resource base and a commitment to the private sector by the government.
This year, the convention will feature a number of conference events where participants receive expert know-how about topics of relevance to investing and doing business in Uganda among others. In 2013, topics such as financing, real estate, agriculture, oil and gas will play a special role in the first-rate conference program.
What to look out for in 2013
The good news is that 2013s convention is going to be even bigger and better than before with plenty more opportunities to network with professionals and representatives from an array of different sectors and industries.
