Uganda Safari Parks – One of the most impressive types of holidays you can take in the world is an Africa safari. And where else is better to go on such a vacation than the ultimate safari destination of Uganda?

In Uganda you can find the one of the greatest National Parks in Africa, here are just a handful of them, and what you can expect to see in each;

#1. Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth boasts a huge number of mammals and birds providing habitat for more than 600 bird species.

A boat trip on the Kazinga Channel enables you to see huge numbers of hippos while in the east of the park, the Kyambura Gorge is a beautiful scar of green running through the savanna, a habitat of chimpanzees and other primates.

#2. Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls Park boasts of animals in plentiful supply and the raging Murchison falls which are easily accessible by boat.

It is the largest park in the country and was named after the falls which Sir Samuel Baker named after a Royal Geographic Society President. You can see good numbers of elephants, giraffes, Ugandan kobs, antelopes, buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles.

#3. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi national park also known as the Impenetrable forest is the home of the mountain gorilla population.

The park also contains about 20 forest elephants, at least 10 species of primate including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys and baboons, duikers, bushbucks, and the rare giant forest hog as well as a host of bird and insect species.

It is also one of the richest areas in Africa for flora and fauna.

#4. Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale is a lush tropical forest said to have the highest density of primates in the world including an estimated 600 chimpanzees.

The Uganda safari attraction in this park is the chimpanzee of which five groups have been partially habituated to human contact.

The 560sq km park is also home to several Colobus monkeys such as the rare red and Angolan larger mammals such as bushbucks, sitatungas, duickers, civets and buffaloes and Uganda’s largest concentration of forest elephants.

#5. Kidepo Valley National Park

This hidden valley in the extreme northeast of Uganda lies along the border with Sudan. It is considered by many to offer the most stunning scenery of any national park in Uganda.

The park covers 1440sq km and is notable for a number of animals that are found nowhere else in the country including cheetahs, ostriches and bat-eared foxes.

There are also large concentrations of elephants, zebras, buffaloes and bushbucks plus predators including lions, leopards, and hyenas. It is also a good bird watching destination with a number of endemic birds of prey.

#6. Lake Mburo National Park

This is the best park in the country for seeing zebras, covering an area of 260sq km, Lake Mburo park is mainly for savanna with scattered acacia trees. There are five lakes with Lake Mburo the largest.

It features some of the rarer animals in Uganda such as impalas, elands, roan antelopes, reedbucks, klipspringers, and topis, as well as buffaloes and hippos. Visitors can walk in this park as well as take wildlife drives and boat trips.
