Bugisu to get new education centre

BAMASAABA living in the diaspora have secured land in Mbale Municipality to build an eight-storey educational resource centre at $2m (about sh5b).

Speaking after the ground-breaking ceremony on Bufumbo Road, the president of the North America Masaaba Cultural Association, Bob Mushikori, said the three-phase construction will start early next year.

The first phase is expected to be completed by 2012. The complex will comprise a vocational centre, library, museum; centre for continuing education and a scholarship research centre to help students whose parents cannot support them pursue university education.
