The organisers of the Ugandan UK Convention are pleased to welcome The Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese as one of their guest of honour. The Rt. Rev. will deliver a message of togetherness and peace to Ugandans in the UK on the day and to appeal to Ugandans to support the Tegula Project, The Namirembe Cathedral building having served more than 75 years now is in dire need of rehabilitation and your support will preserve this Ugandan landmark intact.

The Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira  is a father of four and has served in several places in the diocese, including St. Andrew’s Church Gayaza where he served as deacon. He also served at Kabowa Church of Uganda, before becoming the Vicar of Namirembe.

Founded in 1877, Namirembe is the most centrally located and the oldest among the 29 dioceses of the Anglican Province of Uganda, also known as the Mother Diocese.

Geographically, Namirembe Diocese which at one time covered the whole of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Boga-Zaire has over the years been sub-divided to create more than 35 other sub-dioceses.

The cathedral at Namirembe is recognised as the Diocesan Cathedral for Namirembe and Cathedral of the Church of the Province of Uganda.

The Convention is a one day investment and trade conference which will run alongside the 2nd Ugandan Convention UK. The conference will be promoting Uganda as a preferred investment destination in Africa. It will offer a premier learning platform to present new perspectives, ‘feel the pulse’ of doing business in Uganda, network, build new partnerships and strengthen existing alliances with the right business partners at the highest level.

The convention is also an opportunity to celebrate Uganda’s Golden Jubilee, as well as a reflection as to how far the country has come and the role of the Diaspora in Uganda’s development.
