The Uganda UK Convention wishes to express its deepest thanks to Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of Parliament and every member of her delegation for attending the convention and for their outstanding presentations on the day. The important messages that they shared have contributed to the tremendous success of the day, and have been instrumental in meeting the goals and objectives of the Convention.
Â
Thanks go also to all Commissioners and Ambassadors from Europe, business delegates, community and enterprise leaders, professionals from Europe and Uganda and representatives of the voluntary sector and all other exhibitors who have showcased Uganda on the day, and who have paved the way forward for an enhanced and enriched communication between members of the Ugandan Diaspora and Uganda itself, and have also, undoubtedly brought Ugandans in the UK closer together.
Â
Thanks go also to all visitors, who through their attendance have acknowledged the crucial role that the Diaspora has to play in the development of Uganda, and with whom, a definite way forward can now be etched to fully participate in Ugandan affairs in a most fruitful and successful way.
Â
Thanks go to all volunteers who helped on the day and whose support and contribution are highly appreciated.
Â
And thanks to all those, too many to mention, who, in one way or another, have given their encouragement and shared ideas to make this first ever Uganda UK Convention a truly outstanding success.
Â
Thank you all.
Â
Best regards

Dear William,
Firstly congratulations on organising a very successful Uganda-UK Convention last Saturday. I was very impressed by the large turnout and the high-powered government delegation present. I was not able to meet you to introduce myself and the company I work for: Africa Matters Limited. As you will see from our website we support private sector investment in Africa and help build relationships between various Governments, key stakeholders and companies.
I would very much like to introduce you to a company which I believe has an excellent product that would be hugely beneficial to the Ugandan Diaspora.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards.
Matthew

Hi Willy
This is a well done wish and thank you message for a well organised function. From the comments of people who attended the day’s sessions (which I personal couldn’t) well all very positive. My group on table 20 and 26 enjoyed the entertainment very much.
A few negative comments I have and heard and probably things to have in mind for the next one you prepare were:
1. Unfortunate that Uganda Investment Authority was not represented when a lot of emphasis was put on investment opportunities back home.
2. The food at £15 per head was too expensive for the audiance there given the fact that there were a lot of local restaurants around the place that many people had access to for cheaper food.
3. The bar did not stock guiness and were too expensive although this did not stop people buying the drinks as for men it was an ego thing not to disappoint the many well dress women around. It also forced some people to try bring in drinks from outside although this was stopped by the guys at the door once they found out.
My score out of 5 – is a definate 4

Dear William
Thank you for the opportunity to attend the event.
It was a jam packed event in terms of its excellent speakers, attendance and the material content. For a 1st event it was excellent. You had a good and well trained team helping you with the organisation. Congratulations and well done to all of you.
I hope the Ugandian Ministers, parliamentarians and the embassy members appreciate what you have delivered for the people of Uganda.

Ps hope you have recovered from the event. Well done once again.
Congratulations Willy,
The Convention was a resounding success. The 30 second slot that the MC allowed me was also a success. I had so many people come up to me afterward that I ran out of cards. I got some good quality enquiries.
As far as the magazine is concerned, do you want me to write something about the Convention for it and if so when is the deadline.
Regards
Peter Matthews
Willy- It was an excellent and well attended conference. Congratulations on putting together such a high profile event. I am sure you will be receiving many accolades in the next few days. Regards

Yesterday we had the first Ugandan Convention which brought together Ugandans from walks of life.
We were blessed to hear directly from the people at the very heart of Government like the Finance minister, the speaker of parliament and other top officials from Uganda.
We need this kind of event on a yearly basis in order to exactly know what is on the ground and how we can benefit. E.g. I was pleased when the Hon. Maria Kiwaunka explained about the tax on newly acquired or purchased land, we had been misinformed about the tax on land for a very long time.
There’s so much we can achive from our mother land. I had personally given up after losing so much cash to relatives and friends I was planning to invest in Freetown Serra leon.
This event has changed my perspective about investing in Uganda.
I’m very sorry for those that missed this great event and would also like to use this opportunity to thank the organisers for the efforts that made this event a success.
The advise to the organisers is to start planning next year’s event tomorrow.

Hello there, hope all is good.
Thanks for this idea of bringing up all Ugandans all over the world together . I really like the whole idea. I just wish i was that side I would have registered for the modeling in that fashion show.
keep the spirit up.
FOR God AND MY COUNTRY
The Uganda Convention was a very successful event both in terms of content and outcome. The programme was fantastic and all speakers gave practical and real life examples of what and how the Diaspora can get engaged. The level of information giving from the speakers is such that all attendees would have been better informed and able to make decisions on how they can contribute to Uganda’s development and growth agenda. The massive attendance from the Diaspora and high level participation from Uganda demonstrated the value all place on Uganda. I am confident that the event would and will continue to lead to a number of milestones that will outplay itself in the coming days, months and years.
I would like to take the opportunity to say big congratulations to the organisers who have spent considerable resources in bringing a vision to reality, specifically, to Willy Mutenza for his tireless dedication and sacrifice.

Dear Mr. Mutenza
It is with pleasure I write to applaud you on an impressive and successfully organized first ever Ugandan UK Convention on 27th Aug 2011 in London. It remains outstanding due to the nature in which it was organised and the level of professionalism it has highlighted. The exposure and promotion of Uganda in the Diaspora has taken on a new dimension as the UK Convention clearly identified areas of advancement we as Embassies abroad need to act on as partners.
The diversity and scope of the programme presented us an opportunity as delegates to feel that we stand united in contributing towards the development goals of our country. The most remarkable is how the Convention bridged the gap between Government, Private businesses and Ugandans living in the Diaspora. It is important for me to acknowledge the presence of a high powered delegation from Uganda led by the House Speaker Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga. Included were ministers, members of Parliament and business executives whose brilliant presentations became the talk of the day. On the same event, and for the first time ever, you managed to host all the Ugandan Ambassadors in the European zone. It humbles me to mention that this line up has raised the bar of which we cannot aim any lower as partners.
Attending the UK Convention positively impacted me and will stand as a benchmark for how I will in the future have to address the needs of our fellow Ugandans living in the Diaspora.
I once again commend you for a task well executed.
