Working in partnership with PACED|D.
The Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) commissioned by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on March 16th, 2022, at Nakasero State Lodge, to act as a Think Tank to advise H.E the President, on strategic and systemic interventions aimed at accelerating exports growth and industrial development for national transformation.
PACEID is tasked to advise H.E the President on practical ways of addressing strategic and operational bottlenecks that impede Uganda from fully harnessing its industrial and export potential.
Export promotion,
We are focusing on doubling Uganda’s total exports from the current USD 6.6298 Bn to USD 12 Bn by 2026. It proposes how we must as a Country agree to generate the necessary consensus across key institutions of Government, Exporters, Producers, Lawmakers, Technical staff and all categories of leaders on very deliberate actions to make Exports a key growth weapon, one that we all keenly understand as we do for security.
Communication
We aim to bridge the gap of information flow between government and the public, by taking use of the existing communication platforms i.e., Social media, TV and Radio stations and print media (Newspapers). Our focus is based on the following:
1) Conveying and sharing information, primarily for the purpose of presenting and explaining government decisions and actions, promoting the legitimacy of these interventions, defending recognized values and helping to maintain social bonds.
2) Reaching the right audiences; People hear and react to information differently. Even if a government were to say the same thing to two different groups, the people in those audiences would not necessarily respond in the same manner. So, choosing the appropriate audience, such as age group, helps you determine the content. The more specific the audience is, the more customized the information can be.
We conduct international media interviews with H.E the President and investors, to discuss particularly on number of issues include:
1) Domestic and regional politics
2) Regional security and Uganda’s prominent role as a regional security hub among others
Enterprise development,
We are strengthening entrepreneurial management skills through capacity building and training resources to foster adoption of good workplace practices in micro-, small and large enterprises.
In the area of management training, THE OFFICE OF THE SENIOR PRESIDENTIAL ADVISER (SPECIAL DUTIES) has training tools that cover the whole spectrum of target groups, from illiterate micro entrepreneurs to growth oriented small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
