Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives expected to attend the 4th Ugandan UK Convention

The organizing committee of the forth Ugandan Convention UK is pleased to announce that the Right Honourable Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Mrs Amelia Kyambadde is among the speakers expected at this year’s Trade Exp on the 13th Sept 2014.

As the Minister for Trade, Industry & Cooperatives Hon. Amelia Kyambadde will address the Expo on matters pertaining to the Ugandan government’s policies on Trade and investment,  investment opportunities, as well as what one needs to know in order to trade in Uganda

The Uganda Investment Forum 2014 (UK Convention) is now the largest Ugandan forum in Europe and attracts in excess of 700 delegates from across Europe and it show cases investment opportunities within Uganda.

Profile:

Hon. Amelia Anne Kyambadde, married, is Uganda’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives since May 2011. She is the National Treasurer of the incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party, Current Chairperson of the COMESA Council of Ministers, Chairperson of the COMESA Bureau and Patron of Twezimbe Development Foundation. She joined the Civil Service in 1979, rising to the rank of Principal Private Secretary to the President.

Hon. Kyambadde holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Makerere University Business School in Uganda and an MBA from the American InterContinental University in the United Kingdom. Hon. Kyambadde has carried out various research works on promotion of trade opportunities, effects of marketing variables on non-traditional export crops and ICT for industrialization, with special focus on the promotion of SMEs.

During her tenure of service, she realized that despite the good policies and strategies of the NRM Government, grassroots communities had not felt their impact. With a calling to improve the standards of living in Mawokota North County, she engaged in socio-economic activities to empower the people through the establishment of Twezimbe Development Foundation (TDF), a non-profit organization that focuses on, among other critical community development issues, health, and especially maternal and HIV/AIDS, education, water and sanitation, infrastructure, women and youth development with the assistance of some development partners and the private sector.

To concentrate on serving grassroots communities, Hon. Kyambadde opted for politics and offered her candidature as a Member of Parliament for Mawokota North, Mpigi District, the Central Region of Uganda, and was elected the first female Member of Parliament for Mawokota North County and Chairperson of NRM in Mpigi District.
