UK Convention’s Flashback: Ekisaakaate and the nnabagereka

‘Ekisaakaate’ is an enclosure, that was traditionally fenced a homestead of Kabaka’s (King of Buganda), Chiefs (Abaami ba Kabaka) and other high ranking personalities in society in Buganda, where good values, disciplines and cultures were developed. Inside the “Ekisaakaate” young Baganda children were taken for cultural grooming, leadership development, and acquisition of moral and other social skills, knowledge on cultural practice and values, as well as occupational skills.
