Bernard is an astute and consummate Banker, cum seasoned Chartered Accountant; Risk management expert; Forensic Accountant and Corporate Regeneration Practitioner.
Bernard Robinson Magulu has over 15 years’ Banking experience in Finance, Business Planning, Liquidation Management, and Strategy Execution. He previously worked with UBA Group a multinational Bank with presence in over 25 countries in Africa UBA Capital Europe, China and France. He was hired as a Strategic resource from London to start UBA Uganda, a subsidiary for UBA Group. At UBA Uganda he championed the bank via blue chip organic growth with a portfolio of Chief Finance Officer and Strategist. He was an anchor at UBA Uganda as he was at the pinnacle of the bank’s trajectory of transformation through a strategic rationalization process to its current stead and market positioning. Indeed, Bernard remains a judicious banker with rich banking experience across different African Markets.
Bernard spent numerous years with Central Bank of Uganda; and also worked with Centenary Bank. Prior to his last role, Bernard held a stint at British Airways Group’s Strategy outfit; British Home Stores and BMW in London and Southampton.
Bernard is among the forensic accounting, risk management and corporate regeneration practitioners. He is trained locally, regionally and internationally in financial and forensic accounting modelling; risk management; and Corporate Governance. Indeed, he has received meritorious proficiency accolades on account of designing the practical approach to crafting the Cost Reduction Strategies for British Airways Group for its East African operations.
Bernard holds a First Class/Distinction Masters of Management and International Business, from the Southampton Business School, United Kingdom, specializing in International Finance and Corporate Strategy. He is a graduate of Business Administration and Management from Uganda Martyrs University; holds a Bachelor of Science degree (In Applied Accounting) from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom. He is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Today at Orient Bank, Bernard provides stewardship and strategic oversight of the bank’s business transformation and strategy anchor. He is supported by the bank’s seasoned team of managers anchoring; Finance, Human Capital, Information Technology, Corporate Communications and Marketing functions optimizing efficiency to deliver desired results.
Bernard has participated in the development of Risk Management Guidelines for the both Local Government authorities and financial services institutions under the BP Karl Consultants brand. Currently he is among the few forensic accounting, risk management and corporate regeneration experts with-in the Great Lakes region.
Throughout his entire career, Bernard has developed strong leadership qualities edging into the ability to build up a high performing team. He has traceable hands on experience in sales management, operations management, and managing teams under intricate situations; having supported several financial and non financial Institutions with business growth in marketing and structuring wholesale deals thus penetrating key corporate relationships.
At his previous and current roles as business executive, Bernard has developed and managed relationships with all stakeholders including customers, staff, Government, Regulatory Authorities with an impeccable professional dispensation and practical latitude. Bernard is an astute executive, professionally trained accountant, a practical banker, a resilient negotiator with sound judgment and a discernable practitioner of Corporate Governance.
