Among the Convention’s Objectives is to:

The convention which gathered many Ugandans and their friends, was also attended by ministers Maria Kiwanuka for finance. She called upon everybody to join the journey to bring the Karimojong to the same level with the rest of the Ugandans in dignity and prosperity as the country celebrates the Golden Jubilee of Independence.

UK Convention’s Flashback: My Name is not Mzungu a charity exhibiting at the Convention

The Convention gives an opportunity to charities, SMEs and businesses to exhibit and showcase their services.

That was one of the points of discussion at the recently concluded Ugandan Convention UK in London. In its second year now the convention brought together Ugandans in the Diaspora from across Europe and America, friends of Uganda such as Baroness Lynda Chalker, International Investors as well as Senior Government Officials from the government of Uganda notably, Uganda’s First Lady and Minister for Karamoja, the Speaker in Uganda’s Parliament, the Ministers of finance and Agriculture and several Technocrats including a representative from the Immigration department.

Uganda must speed up decision making in the economic sector and make manpower development a priority if its to take advantage of the many opportunities.

These were some of the remarks by participants at the 2nd Ugandan UK Convention at the Proxy Arena in London over the weekend.

The Ugandan delegation to the convention was led by First Lady and Minister in charge of Karamoja affairs Janet Museveni, Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka, and agriculture minister Tress Bucyanayandi among others.

The Convention gives Ugandan SMEs a platform to showcase their business to the many delegates who attends from all over Europe.

The Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, invited Ugandans in the diaspora to take advantage of the several investment opportunities including the tourism industry, housing and real estate, commercial agriculture, the financial sector and water transport and benefit from the big Ugandan and East African region market.
